Activities and events

with my dog

A host of events punctuate the seasons in Grimaud.

If your dog is not afraid of crowds, they can join you, on a lead, to all open-air events (except for concerts and performances taking place inside the Château).

Here are just a few of the events you won’t want to miss.

1. In summer

With the season in full swing, we’re making the most of the great outdoors and the summer heat.
The Grimaldines Festival is back, as it has been every summer for over 20 years. Four Tuesdays to travel around the world without ever leaving Grimaud. Street performances and concerts at the Château follow one another in a unique atmosphere.
Then, the 3-day Village Fête sets the tone in mid-August: Grimaud itself is celebrated with music, dancing and smiles all round.
Summer draws to a close with the arrival of A Night in the Middle Ages: the Grimaud Medieval Festival. An evening to retrace 1,000 years of history in the most beautiful of settings.

2. In spring

The season of flowers marks the return of the Wool Fair. A day to put farm animals in the spotlight and find out how sheep are sheared, how wool is made and much more!
On the music side, enjoy a taster of our summer festival with the Grimaldines Inattendues. Concerts in unusual venues for unforgettable evenings.
It’s also the great return of craft and gourmet markets in Port Grimaud.

3. In winter

Winter on the Côte d’Azur has no shortage of sunshine and events!
It all starts as December approaches with the Festival of Light, kicking off the festivities.
On this evening, the village illuminations are turned on and young and old alike stroll around with their lanterns, enjoying the show and snacking on roast chestnuts. Then, just a stone’s throw from the 25th of December, Father Christmas makes a stopover in Grimaud every year to enjoy the new events and fireworks.
After a short break, the Truffe en Fête Truffle Festival is back to flavour the winter season with a gourmet weekend of festivities at the beginning of February.

4. In autumn

At the very start of autumn, we celebrate the Festival of Saint-Michel, a traditional day of gourmet delights. Markets (organic, farmers’, weekly markets and more) are a great place to pick up some great finds.

5. Out and about

In the countryside, in Port Grimaud or in the village, there are plenty of places to enjoy the scenery.

6. Orienteering

For those who want to discover the old medieval village in a fun way, four routes have been designed to test your sense of direction.
A fantastic activity to enjoy at your own pace – walking or running for the sportiest among you, alone, in a team or with your dog.

The aim is to find (as quickly as possible for those opting for the sportier version) the punch beacons, with the help of a map.
The beacons, small black boxes, are hidden around the various heritage sites in the village, on the ground or fixed to a post or wall. Keep your eyes peeled for them, and don’t forget to punch in!
