- Identification
My dog is identified and the telephone number I provided is still valid: identification, by tattoo or microchip, has been compulsory since 1999 for all dogs over 4 months old.
As well as being a legal requirement, it gives my pet a status and an identity and makes it easier to find them if they run away. - Vaccination certificate/passport
Your vaccination booklet or passport is up-to-date. It may be required in some accommodation.
Request information when you book and find your accommodation here. - Insurance
Check that your insurance policy covers you if your pet does anything silly while you’re on holiday (the civil liability cover included in comprehensive home-insurance policies extends to damage caused by your pet, just like any other member of the family).
- Final details
Make sure:
– That they’re wearing a collar with your phone number on it,
– That their suitcase is packed: vaccination booklet, lead, collar, water bottle, bowls, food, basket, cushion, favourite toy and first aid kit.
