Walking with my dog

Where can you stretch your legs with your faithful companion? From the village to Port Grimaud via the footpaths, here are a few ideas.

1. Nature walks

on the trails of Grimaud

There are eight trails in Grimaud for pleasant walks. Your dog is welcome here, on a lead. In summer, it’s best to head out outside of the hottest hours of the day, as these paths are not always shaded.

Good to know: :
Before setting off on your walk, from June to September, check the forest-access map (published daily by the Var Prefecture). This way, you can be sure that there are no fire-risk restrictions, allowing you to enjoy your walk in complete safety.

2. Discover the terroir

For our hedonist friends and lovers of the finer things in life, discovering Grimaud also means exploring its terroir.
And in Provence, local produce starts with a lovely Provencal market!
In the village of Grimaud, markets are held all year round on Thursday mornings in the Place Vieille and Place de l’Église.
In Port Grimaud, from April to September, you’ll find markets every Thursday morning and Sunday morning, at the Place du Marché and Place des Artisans.

If you’re a wine lover, be sure to stop off at one of our wineries and appreciate the talent of our artisans.

3. Port Grimaud

A beautiful lake-side town

In Port Grimaud, you can tour the town by foot or by boat (for a place nicknamed the “Little Venice of Provence”, it’s only fitting!).
Discover this 20th-century heritage port, nicknamed Little Venice of Provence, alongside your furry friend. Admire the delightful coloured houses and soak up the Provencal and Côte d’Azur atmosphere.
Dressed in a dinner jacket (with a dry coat and on a lead), your companion is welcome aboard the various boats offering tours of Port Grimaud via the canals.

4. The village of Grimaud

PROVENCE AND MIDDLE AGES

The picturesque village of Grimaud is infused with the traditional spirit of Provence and offers an authentic atmosphere.
The medieval castle dominates the village and can be seen from miles around, beckoning visitors to come and take a closer look.
Once there, you’ll discover all the charm of this place.
Wait no more, come and discover the village – your dog will love the walk and the shade of the narrow streets.

Remember: you may come across some local cats relaxing in the area.

5. Sites and places

cultural or religious

Looking for a cultural treat or to find out more about the Grimaud of yesteryear? The Heritage Museum and the Maison des Arcades are happy to welcome any dog (on a lead). Discover the permanent and temporary exhibitions throughout the year.

To visit religious sites, your four-legged friend will have to wait outside (Saint-Michel Church, Pénitents Chapel, Saint-François d’Assise Church in Port Grimaud and its belvedere).
