Family-friendly entertainment

Numerous events and activities take place throughout the year to delight young and old alike. Here’s an overview of what’s on in Grimaud for all the family.

1. Les Grimaldines

A not-to-be-missed summer event that’s been running for over 20 years, the Grimaldines festival (world music and street arts) awaits you on Tuesday evenings from mid-July to mid-August for “around the world” evenings.
The idea is simple: several troupes of musicians, dancers and comedians follow one another through the village streets, creating a unique atmosphere. An atmosphere that will bring you an international flavour, as these evenings are themed (South or North America, Africa, Eastern Europe, etc.). All accompanied by wooden games to keep the fun going for young and old alike.
As the icing on the cake, the festival continues with a concert (for a fee) in the exquisite setting of the Château de Grimaud. On stage, artists such as Fatoumata Diawara, Imany, Noa, Faada Freddy, La Yegros, Catherine Ringer and more perform year after year to round off the evening in style.
Les Grimaldines, the perfect event for both parents and children!

2. Christmas in Grimaud

Christmas inevitably brings back memories of family get-togethers and the joy of youngsters discovering gifts under the tree.
In Grimaud, it’s Christmas ahead of time! Every year, new surprises are added to the festivities in anticipation of those for the following year. In previous years, Father Christmas has arrived by helicopter, fireworks have been set off from the castle, and ice sculptors have created superb, frosted works of art…
Every winter, there’s something new for Christmas.

3. A Night in the Middle Ages

Les Médiévales de Grimaud

An evening to immerse yourself in the Grimaud of 1,000 years ago: join us for a Night in the Middle Ages at the end of August!
Knights, troubadours, tavern-keepers, etc., all come together in the heart of the medieval village of Grimaud to admire the sword and behemoth fights, the skills of the trades of yesteryear (calligraphy, pottery and more), the joyful gibes of the bards… and all the many other activities taking place during a moment suspended in time.

4. La Foire de la Laine

Wool Fair

Every Ascension Day, Grimaud welcomes the unmissable Wool Fair.
A day of traditions, with a craft market, Provençal dances, sheep-shearing… and the now famous “giant farm” in the Place Neuve.
You can wander between the stalls and the farm animals, who will often come and beg for a few kernels of corn.

5. Le Salon du Livre

Book Fair

In Grimaud, the first weekend in June is dedicated to children’s literature.
Various authors will be on hand to discuss and sign their books. Then, there are events such as shows, poetry and drawing competitions to combine culture and fun.

6. Egg race

A gourmet Easter

While waiting for Easter eggs to be delivered, children (and adults) will be delighted to take part in a chocolate egg hunt in the grounds of the Notre-Dame de la Queste chapel.

A host of sporting and creative activities await you, as does the sweet reward!

7. Cinema at the castle

Enjoy an open-air cinema in the grounds of Grimaud castle on summer evenings.
Each year, a new film theme is chosen to appeal to young and old alike.

8. The children’s carnival

Confetti and crazy costumes are the order of the day.
Surprise entertainment, music and fun for both children and parents.

9. Halloween

On 31st October, monsters, witches and zombies come together for a spooky evening in Grimaud.
A horror treasure hunt, ghastly costumes in the dark of night… Are you ready to be scared? (Not too much, we promise!)

10. L’heure du conte (Storytime)

At the Médiathèque

Every 2nd Saturday of the month, Grimaud’s Médiathèque plunges you into the world of tales and stories for the very young.
A book is read and then performed by Isabelle much to the delight of the young audience (from 2 years upwards).
Then, in the run-up to Christmas, story time moves to the Salle Beausoleil for a big show.
